Hi!
My name is Ruth, and I’m so excited to meet you.
in July 2017 I worked my way into Stage 4 Adrenal Fatigue; basically a super intense “burn out” where you could die if you catch a cold because your cortisol levels are too low to fight it off properly. For the first three months I slept 20 hours a day, had constant headaches, nausea, the shakes, and so many more symptoms it would take several pages to write about it.
After a few months of slowly getting better (being able to walk all the way downstairs and even make myself breakfast!) I was diagnosed again with Chronic Fatigue (the diagnosis they give you when they don’t know what’s wrong with you.) I am still battling severe exhaustion and haven’t been able to go back to work yet.
I’m a notorious extravert, A-type, overachieving perfectionist and this forced “stop” in my life has given me an incredible gift of time to take a step back, assess my values and beliefs and re-structure my life.
I discovered that there were several reasons that I ended up in burn-out, some inside of my control and some not.
My job was very stressful, I had way too much responsibility on my plate, I was horrible at saying “no” to people and setting proper boundaries, I was so busy that my every second was scheduled, I didn’t sleep enough, my house was a constant mess because I had no time to clean it, (my mom helped me do 15 loads of laundry when she came to take care of me during my crash), I wasn’t eating enough food, I was drinking too much coffee and not enough water, my mind was constantly racing and I had lots of anxious thoughts (you mean it’s not normal to always think of the worst possible case scenarios and take action so they don’t happen??), I went from working out too much to not at all, and the friendships I had that were healthy got swallowed up by the friendships I had that were unhealthy.
Basically, I was completely unbalanced in my life. I had extreme good things and extreme bad things and no balance.
This blog is about my journey as I am learning to create and maintain a balanced, clear and uncluttered lifestyle; emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually and relationally.
I’m excited to embark on this adventure with you all, a community of people who want to live a balanced, clear & decluttered lifestyle. As I share my ideas, inspirations, tips and tricks, I’d love to hear yours as well as I know YOU have a ton of insight and life experience to share with me as well and we can learn from each other.
Thank-you again for joining me, I look forward to getting to know you!
xoxo
Ruth
