The Benefits of Turmeric
What I like about turmeric oil is that it has several benefits for the human body. According to Dr. Axe:
Turmeric oil is derived from turmeric, which is well-known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-malarial, anti-tumor, anti-proliferative, anti-protozoal and anti-aging properties. Turmeric has a lengthy history as a medicine, spice and coloring agent. Turmeric essential oil is an extremely impressive natural health agent just like its source — one that appears to have some of the most promising anti-cancer effects around.
I (Ruth) use turmeric oil mainly to help reduce inflammation in my body because I battle with 4 autoimmune diseases, inflammation is always a concern. I try to include both turmeric and frankincense daily to help keep inflammation under control and to help heal my gut and to promote cellular rejuvenation.
Why Turmeric Oil Over Turmeric Powder:
Basically, the oil is a lot easier to digest and absorb because the curcuminoids and the tumerones are in equal balance. When you get a turmeric supplement you’ll find that the curcuminoids are in lower ratio to the tumerones. However, if they were balanced one to the other, it’s much easier to absorb. Here’s an interesting article about that.
How Do I Take Turmeric Essential Oil?
One of the main things I’ve been taking turmeric essential oil is by making this yummy anti-inflammatory turmeric latte every day!
Here’s the recipe. When you try making it I’d love to hear how you like it.
Recipe for the Yummy Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Latte:
1 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk(or milk of your choice)
1/2 Cup Full Fat Coconut Milk (for the flavour and the healthy fats)
1 tsp Cinnamon (or 1 drop cinnamon EO)
1 Drop doTERRA Turmeric Oil (or 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder)
1 Drop Ginger Oil (or 1/4 teaspoon of ginger powder)
Dip a toothpick into pink pepper oil or Black pepper oil and swirl it through the liquids (or add a pinch of black pepper)
1 Teaspoon of Real Vanilla Extract
1 Tablespoon of Real Maple Syrup
Blend all ingredients together until they are frothy
Heat in a pot until you reach the desired temperature or heat in a mug in the microwave (for 1.5-2 min)
Serve it with a bit more cinnamon on top!
Modification for my caffeine lovers:
If you’d like to add coffee, just decrease your almond milk to 1/2 cup, add 1/2 cup of coffee to the mix and there you go!
And there you have it! A delicious, anti-inflammatory Turmeric Latte!

Disclaimer: I do not recommend ingesting oils from any company other than doTERRA. They have very strict quality tests and are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade by a third party non-biased company, which means they are actually safe to ingest when the label on the bottle says so. I do get a small commission from any purchases you make, however the above opinions are completely my own and I would never recommend you purchase something unless I had experience with it and loved it already.

Even though I don’t necessarily have a need for turmeric, this latte looks so delicious that I still want to try it! And I had no idea about the difference between the oil and the powder – very insightful!
